Chinese Wreaths

On a wooded hill nearby Lijiang in China I found some wreaths made of glitter paper. The wreaths was in various stages of decay, it was obvious that a cultural or religious act had happened. The traces of the act contained cultural codes I didn’t understand. To me they seemed mysterious and incomprehensible. It was particular the aesthetic expression of the wreaths and the choice of placing them in the woods that caught my interest. In an attempt to understand what had happened in the woods, I began to process the traces left behind.
